I've went through the history in this Help section first, but didn't quite find what I needed.
1) When I enter a sound sample I have created in Goldwave, set up so Polyphone can create the Font, I get crossing chink noises and also some beating, depending on the sample.
2) I also get 1 to 3 harmonics generated with editing within Polyphone.
3) None of these issues are present either in my source sounds used for the samples or coming out of Goldwave.
Any suggestions on how to eliminate all of these various artifacts, distortions and harmonics seemingly generated by Polyphone?
We discovered that my sampling rates did not match what my end-use processor needed. We thought we had done so. But, I am making sound fonts for a musical instrument using a mini computer with Linux as the OS and Python as the programming language to make it all work. I needed 16 Bit, 44,100 Hz for the instrument. I was sampling & editing the fonts made from the samples at 32 Bit, 48,000 Hz.
What we found was the recording and playback stream, on the computer right through to the musical instrument required (obviously now) 16 Bit, 44,100 Hz all the way through. The mismatch was definitely causing noise & harmonic issues.
And, I discovered we don't need to add the 4 bit silence at the beginning & end of the samples in Polyphone any longer to create a font.
So, the sound font creation process time has been cut down to a third of what it was and is more accurate with far less noise, etc.
For your information: My sound font creation process goes like this:
Create samples (either live mic an instrument or use premade wave files of such instruments), create a sample within Goldwave, send to Polyphone to create the sound Font, tuning, etc., load the finished Font into the electronic musical instrument.
