Hi everyone! I’ve developed this soundfont for myself and the taiko community because I haven’t seen any existing (and free!) files on the internet that accurately allows for taiko notation in Western sheet music. This is a little unconventional because taiko is usually orally taught, but this is for Western music folks to better follow what we play in collaborations.
I am also by no means a computer person, so I managed to make this soundfont “good enough” to visualize what taiko would sound like with other instruments. If anyone has feedback or any other features they would like to see, I’m gladly open to suggestions!

BO the soundfont only uses 5,01 Mb of the samples, so;
open the sf2 in Polyphone
select General
Remove unused elements
and you can upload your sf2 here -

Thank you for very much for both the soundfont and the discovery of this instrument. The samples in it are well recorded and I notice that most of them are not linked to instruments, they are thus not sounding. Is it intentional? I am asking since removing them or using them in another soundfont would decrease the size of the soundfont.
Also, several velocity layers seem to be covered by the samples and they would add details to the instruments. -
MO Hi Davy, thanks for giving this soundfont a chance. All setup instructions are outlined in the google doc I typed up, linked under website.
TLDR: They should definitely be sounding. 1. In Musescore (I haven't used any other arranging apps), change the instrument to "Snare." 2. Then change the snare notation style to the one I custom created (this is really important) 3. Change the Snare sound to your desired kumidaiko instrument in Mixer.
I'm still learning how to use polyphone -- can you explain what you mean by several velocity layers?
