I just tried to download the mac version and I get an error that says polyphone can't be opened because of a problem. It seems like a dependency might be missing. I'm running on OSX 10.11.6

I too encountered this error.
The reason for this is that the Jackmp.framework is missing from the app package.
As a workaround, I copied this framework from the 1.7 version of the app and so got it to run.
Maybe unrelated, but I experience frequent crashes with version 1.8.

Thank you for the report, the bundle is now fixed. I updated it on the download page. For other bugs don't hesitate to create other subjects in the forum, with a description on how to reproduce them.
