Merge several instruments into one

    Hello everybody,

I want to create a soundfont from the soundfiles of a sound library of an percussion instrument. (It's from an app from my phone and it is commercial, so I'm affraid I cannot share it with you due to copyrights. )

You can see it on the image. On the left you'll see the names of sound files show already on which key and on which maximum velocity value they should be assigned to. On the graphic display you can see it is sampled with many velocity layers.

I would like to assign them to more keys without pitching. For example: I would like to assign the samples belonging to key 57 (A3) to key 58 (A#3) as well. In practice it means I will hear the same samples in the same pitch when pressing key 57 and 58 on my keyboard. This is very usefull when playing with samples of drum and percussion sounds.

It can be done easily by duplicating the instrument and then change the root key and key range from 57 to 58. However finally I would like to have them into one instrument definition.

That's why I'm asking: is it possible to merge two or more instrument definitions into one? Or do you have another idea I can do this job?

    Thanks in advantage!

    1. Automatically link the samples.
    2. Set the global 'Tuning (Scale)' to 0.
    3. Done!

I already assumed. That's why I mentioned it.

Besides people can obtain free sound samples of good quality on many places. The University Of Iowa  for example offers many royalty free sound samples from acoustic music instruments. They appreciate a donation but you are not allowed to. Also they share interesting documents about music composing, sound recording and sound synthesis. A very interesting website.

Thank you for your answer about my question!
