How note changes duration of sample

    Hi,

I have a sample (which is a drums loop, it has a length of 4 seconds) assigned to note 60. When I press this note, the sample plays nicely and I configured it to repeat so the drum rythm keeps playing.

My problem is this: sometimes I need to play this sample 10% slower, sometimes 7% faster, sometimes 20% slower... I realized that if I play the note 59, or 58... the samples plays slower (which is great - I can hear a small difference in pitch but it's no problem, the most important to me is timing), and when I play the note 61, or 62... is plays faster (which is also great). However I still couldnt find a relationship in percentage, I mean: how many notes below the note 60 would make the speed exactly half? And how many notes above note 60 would make the speed exactly half?

Is there a linear relationship between the duration of the sample from the root note to the note being played?

    Thanks a lot!

the soundfont protocol changes the pitch by altering the bitrate.
one octave higher the sample is played at double speed, one octave lower at half speed, so the sample will play 100/12 percent faster or slower per semitone.
soundfonts are not meant for this; you should look at a soundfont as an instrument, the artist is the one who makes the music.
    regards bottrop
