Using the new registry-key for Version 2.1

  • ZI 190 0
    And my request is:
use a new registry key for 2.x; store settings here.
And during the installation, please ask "which directory to use".

    ----

I think this should have been done in version 2.0.

1.x and 2.x uses the same registration key. And for those who have both versions on their computers, this is a persecution.

If you open 2.x after using 1.9, it says "welcome".
If you open 1.x after using 2.x, it says "welcome" again.

Sometimes the "last used files" list is shared and sometimes reset.

Perhaps for this reason, in the latest beta, the menus have unexpectedly changed to Chinese language, I've searching blindly and corrected the settings.

Polyphone also doesn't give install option to a new directory while installing.
If I used version 1.9 for the last time, it installs in that directory, if I used 2.x for the last time, it installs in that directory.
I'm waiting for the window where there will be a directory question carefully in each installation, but I can never see it.

    Hello,

The install directory can be selected the first time you install Polyphone:

The next install, that upgrades the software, automatically uses the same directory. If you want to select another directory you need to first uninstall Polyphone and then re-install it.

This system is not convenient only if you want several versions of Polyphone to be installed at the same time. But this is not advised since - as you noticed - all versions are sharing the same keys in the registry and from one version to another changes are possibly made. A registry upgrade can occur the first time you are using another version.

For this reason I'll not encourage the use of several versions of Polyphone. The right way is to fix the bugs so that the last version is adopted by everybody.

Of course the creator of the program can suggest something
And the user can also use otherwise.
    The right of both: D

Because of 1.9's incredible ease of use *1 (and because of 2.x don't offer the same flexibility), I might want to start with 1.9 and finish with 2.x (version 2.1 is more important because it includes a modulator feature. Previously it was necessary to check with the Viena software) .)

Okay, I can live with this discomfort.
Because I'm gonna keep using it like this.

    ----

    *1 (Ease of use):
Ability to open Soundfonts in the same window,
Drag-and-drop copying capability in same window (between my separate soundfonts) .
The menus are visible in the first stage and you don't have to click a separate button to open them.

So I'm not the one who uses the Polyphone only once or twice a week / month / year.
I use this software every day, and some convenient features are more important to me.

You are perfectly right, we think one way and it's used the other way!

But I understand your needs. I had to make a choice when I had the idea of multiple tabs. The drawback is the drag & drop that is now impossible between different soundfonts (Ctrl+C Ctrl+V still works between them but it's a slighly longer way). But it offers a better a clearer interface. It saves space in the tree.

Regarding the history, it's bigger and with more information now so the number of clicks shouldn't be that impairing.

By the way, the modulators may need to be further tested so keep Viena so that you can check sometimes
